Delhi Traffic Police has announced the G20 Virtual Help Desk for offering real-time traffic updates in the national capital. The Help Desk page offers all traffic-related information in one place. Additionally, a G20 Traffic Advisory has also been issued. Authorities have told to use India’s MapmyIndia app and Google has updated its Maps app with the latest traffic information as per the Summit.

G20 Virtual Help Desk, G20 Traffic Advisory

India is hosting the G20 Summit this year and its Ministers’ Meet will be held between September 9 and September 10. Some G20 Sherpas have already arrived in India, while others are about to join. To clear the roads and maintain security for the global leaders, the Government has closed some roads and paused all deliveries on the said dates.

The traffic is being diverted to other roads and the traffic data is being updated. Now, to maintain a smooth flow of traffic for citizens in the capital, Delhi Traffic Police has launched a Virtual Help Desk for real-time traffic updates. This will ensure that everyone is aware of the latest traffic arrangements for two days and also gets all updates in one place.

The  G20 Summit Virtual Helpdesk is a landing page that will display all the traffic-related information for September 9 and September 10. The website gives details about traffic arrangements, transportation services, essential maps, police services, and medical facilities. Delhi Police has also listed its social handles so that people can quickly get traffic updates on apps like X, Instagram, and Facebook.

Additionally, a G20 Traffic Advisory has also been issued. It lists all the traffic regulations that will be followed on September 9 and September 10. Furthermore, authorities have advised people to download and use the indigenous maps app, MapmyIndia.

Google Maps updated for the national capital

Meanwhile, Google has updated the latest traffic information such as road closures, public transport schedules, and more on Google Maps.

“To help residents of Delhi NCR get around efficiently during the G20 Summit, we have updated information about road closures, public transport schedules, walking directions, and more on Google Maps,” stated Google on X.

Since India is hosting the G20 Summit this year, it’s leaving no stone unturned. The government is heavily relying on technology as the venue (Bharat Mandapam) where the Ministers’ Meet will occur starting tomorrow has several tech features. High-speed Wi-Fi, 5G connectivity, AV systems, microphones, automatic sensors, and more tech are being used at the Summit venue.

G20 Summit update: India is all set to hold the G20 Summit starting tomorrow for the next two days. The government has taken this as an opportunity to showcase the country’s advancement in technology and is not leaving any stone unturned to provide a seamless experience for the visiting delegates. The government is showcasing a generative AI model called Ask GITA, which stands for Guidance, Inspiration, Transformation, and Action. Ask Gita is a chatbot based on the GPT-4 model and will answer questions related to life, based on the feed from the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita. The chatbot, accessible to all visitors including the delegates, is installed in the Digital India experience zones in Halls 4 and 14 of Bharat Mandapam, which is also the main venue of the G20 summit.

“ASK G.I.T.A Exhibit at the Digital India Experience Zone is a remarkable and innovative platform which offers tailored solutions as said in the revered holy book Bhagavad Gita,” PIB India wrote in an X post.

Users can choose from a host of pre-loaded questions such as “Why is it important for humans to perform duties?” or can also ask their own questions and the chatbot, Ask Gita, provides answers to their questions in both English and Hindi.

Digital India Experience Zone will take the visiting delegates and attendees of the summit on Digital India’s journey and highlight the country’s accomplishment in digital governance and infrastructure since 2014 using virtual reality. The experience zone will be led by the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT.

As the government is exhibiting Ask GITA generative AI tool at the summit, a report by Financial Express quoting a government source said that the government is planning to fast-track work on its own generative AI model, which is equivalent to ChatGPT and will be based on large-language models using Bhashini, which is the digital repository of content in 22 Indian languages and some international languages. The government has also planned to make this available to other countries just like its other digital public infrastructure such as Aadhaar, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Digilocker and more.

Meanwhile, the government has also deployed an AI-based tool to welcome guests at the ‘Mother of Democracy’ exhibition, which will be held at Bharat Mandapam.

G20 Summit update: India is all set to hold the G20 Summit on September 9 and September 10 in New Delhi. The government of India has taken this opportunity to showcase different facets of India to the visiting world leaders and delegates. It will showcase the advancements made in areas such as Digital Public Infrastructure and Unified Payment Interface, and some aspects of ancient Indian art and culture. To make this experience seamless for the vising delegates, the government is also using artificial intelligence. An AI-generated avatar will welcome G20 Summit delegates at the ‘Mother of Democracy’ exhibition, which will be held at Bharat Mandapam.

The ‘Mother of Democracy’ exhibition will showcase India’s democratic tradition from the Vedic period to the modern area and the AI-avatar will provide a brief overview of the exhibition to the visiting delegates. The exhibition will have textual content along with audio, which will be presented in 16 global languages, which includes English, French Mandarin, Italian, Korean and Japanese.

In the ‘Mother of Democracy’ exhibition, the history of the democratic ethos of India will be summed up and retold through 26 interactive screens arranged in multiple kiosks. The exhibition will also showcase the first general elections that were held in 1951-52 after independence down to the last held 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Meta’s Twitter (now X) rival Threads has rolled out a keyword search feature to more countries, including India, on both mobile and web — which the company started testing in Australia and New Zealand last week. Along with India, the company rolled out the feature in Argentina, Mexico, the UK, and the US. In Meta’s chief executive Mark Zuckerberg’s words, the feature is now rolling out to “most” English- and Spanish-speaking countries. With the new feature, you can look for posts that contain the keywords you searched for — something that has been available on X for a very long time.

“Today, we’ll start rolling out keyword search in English and Spanish, in countries where most people post in those languages — such as Argentina, India, Mexico, the UK, and the US — on both mobile and web,” Meta said in a blog post on Thursday. But the company also said that it is “working on bringing the feature to other languages and countries as soon as we can”. Threads began testing the feature in Australia and New Zealand last month, giving users a way to search through all the posts on the platform using just a keyword.

How to use the new search feature in Threads

The new feature, which is gradually rolling out to users in supported markets, works from within the Search tab. After you have opened Threads on your Android or iOS device, follow these steps:

— Go to the Search tab, symbolised by a magnifying glass

— Type the keywords to look for associated posts and hit enter

— The first batch of results would include users related to the search term, but to look for posts, tap on “Search for” right below where your search term is

— A new screen will open with all the posts on the platform associated with your search term

Currently, it is not clear if private posts are also included in search results, but we will get a clear idea in the coming days.

The drop in Threads’ popularity

Instagram’s Threads has been in steady decline after peaking at around 50,000 daily active users globally on Android devices in early July and now stands at around 10 million. According to the digital intelligence platform Similarweb, the numbers are less than a tenth of Twitter’s user base. That is a colossal downfall for the active user base of Zuckerberg’s rival to Twitter (now known as X).

Over 10 million people joined the social media app within seven hours of its July 5 launch, according to Zuckerberg. Threads became the most downloaded non-game app on its first day in a decade, as per the market intelligence data provider Sensor Tower, and surpassed 100 million users. The report also mentioned that the users on Threads spend just 2.4 minutes a day on the app, down over 80 percent from its early July peak.

Chrome turned 15 today. On the occasion, Google has announced a host of new features for its web browser. These new features will not only give Google Chrome a fresh new look, but they will also make it safer to browse. “Chrome is turning 15 this month. And while a lot has changed over the last 15 years, our original goal still holds true — to build a browser that’s fast, reliable, secure and easy to use,” Google wrote in a post announcing the development.

So, what’s new in Google Chrome?

Material You design
One of the major changes that users will witness in Chrome in the coming weeks is a new look on desktop. Google said that Chrome is getting Material You design update, as a part of which it will get updated icons, new colour palettes, new themes and distinct colours for profiles. Furthermore, the company has also synced it with operating system better, which in turn will ensure that Chrome preferences can easily adapt to OS-level settings, like dark and light modes.

More accessible menus
Google also said that it is making it easier to use Chrome. To make this happen, Chrome is getting a comprehensive menu for faster access to Chrome extensions, Google Translate, and Google Password Manager among others. To access this menu, all users need to do is click the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser.

Chrome Web Store gets a new design
Google is also bringing the Material You design to Chrome Web Store.

Chrome Web Store gets new features
Chrome Web Store is also getting new extension categories, such as AI-powered extensions and Editors’ spotlight, along with more personalised. This feature will be available in public preview starting today.

Better Safety Checks
Google also said that it is expanding Safety Check to extensions so Chrome can help identify extensions in the store that were recently unpublished, in violation of the company’s policies, or potentially malicious. As far as availability is concerned, these assessments are already available in Chrome Browser Cloud Management.

Better Search features

Google is also bringing the new features that it rolled out to Search recently to Chrome, which includes the feature to access information and search tools while browse. “When you’re on a webpage, select the “Search this page with Google” option from the three-dot menu. That will open the Google Search side panel, where you can find related searches, learn more about a page’s source or start another search altogether,” Google wrote in a blog post.

SGE coming to Chrome
Last month, Google extended its generative AI capabilities on Search to web browsing experience in Chrome on desktop. Now, Google is bringing this feature to users in the US. Users can opt in to “SGE while browsing” in Search Labs to test it out.

Upgrades to Safe Browsing
Google is also making upgrades to its Safe Browsing feature. With these upgrades, Chrome will now check sites against Google’s known-bad sites in real time. “By shortening the time between identification and prevention of threats, we expect to see 25% improved protection from malware and phishing threats,” Google added. This feature will be available in Chrome in the coming weeks.
