Microsoft in its blog post confirmed that it’s ready to pull the plug on Xbox 360 store. The Xbox 360 store will cease to exist later next year and this has created a panic amongst the console users. When is Xbox 360 store shutting down?

Microsoft is shutting down the Xbox 360 store on July 29, 2024. This means users still have around 10-11 months to play and purchase new games and DLCs. But before you do that, make sure the new games you buy are backwards compatible.

Can we still play Xbox 360 games after July 2024?

All the already-purchased games can be played on Xbox 360 console even after the Xbox 360 store shuts. So you can continue playing games even after July 2024.

Can we still play Xbox 360’s multiplayer titles after July 2024?

Xbox 360 users will still be able to play multiplayer titles via the Xbox network even after July 2024. They will also be able to save games and progress to the cloud.

Are Xbox 360 games backwards compatible?

You can purchase as many games as you want till July 2024, however, make sure the titles that you buy are backwards compatible. Since not all games have backwards compatibility, but many titles do. Buying a backwards compatible game will let you play them on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

What about purchased movies and TV content?

The Microsoft Movies & TV app will no longer function on Xbox 360. Unlike purchased games, which will still be playable on Xbox 360, TV and movie content won’t be viewable on the Xbox 360 console after July 2024. But there’s no need to worry since the purchased content from these apps will be available for viewing on Windows 10|11 PCs and  Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

Xbox 360 console was released almost 18 years back and it became an easy choice after the launch of Xbox One in 2013. That’s because it was more affordable than the Sony counterpart, back in the day. However, the console’s popularity declined in the last couple of years probably due to its limiting hardware.
