Priced at INR 54,999 the Reno10 Pro+ 5G and available for purchase across Flipkart, OPPO Stores and Mainline Retailers, is the epitome of design, crafted to perfection that not only looks great but also makes you look great with Pro-level portrait cameras.

We got an opportunity to spend a few days testing the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G and are thoroughly impressed.

CAMERA

It is really a feat of engineering, how OPPO managed to put the highest spec periscope Telephoto Portrait Camera in a smartphone so thin and light. In fact, owing to the design engineering of the smartphone it is Industry’s thinnest and lightest periscope camera phone. The 64MP Telephoto Portrait Camera which is the highest megapixel telephoto lens in the segment, features a large 1/2-inch sensor and a larger cylinder lens to improve image stabilization with a wider anti-shake angle even in extremely low light conditions. This means when we click a portrait using this lens, we get better clarity as more light is captured with a soft natural bokeh.

The telephoto camera system on the Reno10 Pro+ 5G is so powerful that when we clicked portrait against backdrop of building, the compression of the images was such that the building appeared closer and more realistic in size. For the first time ever, we were also able to capture from 0.6x on the Ultra-Wide Camera and 1x on the Main Camera, to 3x optical zoom and even 6x Digital Zoom using the Telephoto Portrait Camera thanks to the In-sensor Zoom Technology. When we zoomed into the portrait each detail was accurately captured allowing for a professional portrait experience. There is also a host of AI-enabled image-processing architecture to remove grains for more accurate skin texture, high-frequency details to produce a sharper image, and HDR processing with up to eight times higher dynamic range.

The camera system on the Reno10 Pro+ 5G goes beyond the telephoto lens and delivers stunning day and low-light pictures using the 50MP Ultra-Clear Main Camera with a new IMX890 sensor. The camera system also comes with OIS so any bit of handshaking or movement while taking pictures is handled.

The 112’Ultra-Wide Camera – Featuring a 5P lens module and a sensor delivers exceptional image clarity and allowed us to go truly wide with more content being captured in every photo.

Moving on to the Selfie camera, an undisputed prowess that OPPO has enjoyed since its launch. The Reno10 Pro+ 5G gets a 32-megapixel Ultra-Clear Selfie Camera with Auto Focus. While most smartphone cameras reserve the zoom feature for the rear cameras, OPPO gives 3x zoom options for the Selfie camera – 0.8x, 1x, and 2x. The selfie experience on this smartphone was also one of the best we experienced in the segment.

FAST CHARGING AND BATTERY

How can we talk about OPPO and not mention SUPERVOOC technology? With the highest charging wattage in Reno’s history, the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G delivers a 100W SUPERVOOC fast charge that charges the 4,700mAh battery to 100 percent in just 27 minutes. One also gets OPPO’s first independently developed SUPERVOOC Power Management Chip that improves discharge efficiency to an industry-leading 99.5 percent. This allowed the phone to get more out of every single battery charge. OPPO’s homegrown Battery Health Engine and Ultra-low Temperature Charging Mode also adds to the battery efficacy and gives battery durability of 4 years.

With medium to heavy usage, we could easily get the battery to go on for over a day without the need for charging. When charged for just five minutes the device easily lasted for three – four hours of calling and social media usage. The Reno10 Pro+ 5G also comes with Tüv Rheinland Safe Fast-Charge System Certification so that the safety of the fast-charging system is assured.

DESIGN and DISPLAY

The first thing that caught our attention was the exquisite Glossy Purple colour of the Reno10 Pro+ 5G. The device is also available in a beautiful Silvery Grey color option. Be it inside or out, front, or back, the Reno10 Pro+ 5G with its brand-new 3D curved design and a complementing 3D glass back panel Design is a sight to behold from every angle.

To match the pro-grade camera setup, the Reno10 Pro+ 5G has an Ultra-Clear Borderless 6.74-inch OLED Display. OPPO has put a custom OLED screen that supports a 10-bit colour display for natural and accurate colours. It features a 2772×1240 resolution, 100 percent P3 wide colour gamut, and support for HDR 10+ and HDR video.

There is also ProXDR Smart Display Control which gives a huge lift in dynamic range to HDR photos on the display. You can also choose refresh rate with 120Hz LTPS dynamic refresh rates. The viewing experience on the device is quite immersive and gives a cinematic feel when watching content.

PERFORMANCE

The keyword here is TSMC 4nm process technology, which delivers up to 30 percent improvement in power efficiency. The device also features OPPO’s exclusive Ultra-Conductive Graphite that provides up to 1,800 W/mk in thermal conductivity, for 92 percent larger liquid cooling surface area. These upgrades make sure the phone stays cool under heavy gaming or extended video shooting, helping to keep overall performance steady and smooth.

On the software front you have the ColorOS 13.1’s powerful Dynamic Computing Engine with which we were able to open as many as 40+ apps on Reno10 Pro+ 5G without resulting in lag or data loss from application overloading.

The proprietary ColorOS 13.1 from OPPO offers seamless connectivity and smart experiences like Multi screen connect and for seamless connection with the Enco Air3 Pro earbuds using the HeyTap app. The ColorOS 13.1 also comes with host of privacy features and Smart Always-On Display. Even after using it for weeks, it is still hard for me to believe that it is only 8.28 mm slim and such a lightweight device. The ability to put so much – Triple camera setup with a Periscope Telephoto camera, 100W SUPERVOOC fast charging, and Flagship processing power into a device so slim with such craftsmanship and engineering is amazing.
